Research title helper
Title options and keywords to choose from.
You put in a few lines about your research, or your rough abstract, and you get back five title ideas and six keywords. Picking one and polishing it is something you have to do yourself.
With our scholars we see the title changing more times than any other line of the thesis. First it goes on the registration form. Then the synopsis needs the same title. Many times the guide strikes out half and says try again. With five versions on the screen you can quickly notice which one opens with the place and which one with the question. One is kept short on purpose. Borrow whatever phrase you like from these, and after that frame the final wording yourself.
The AI check is switched off for now. You can call or WhatsApp us instead, and we’ll go through it with you.
Not sure the answer fits your study? WhatsApp us or call, and we’ll look at it with you.
How the tool works
Please note the helper is not running on your own computer. The text you paste travels to our server first, and our server passes it to OpenAI. We have given their language model a fixed set of instructions. It has to return five titles, each one of a different type, and the order never changes.
- Descriptive. This one covers the topic you studied, the group of people and the place where you did the work.
- Question. Here the research question itself becomes the title.
- Result-led. Your main finding is put at the start. Suppose you haven’t written any finding in your text, then you simply get a second descriptive title here.
- Method-led. It picks up whatever design or analysis you wrote about. That could be a survey, a case study, PLS-SEM or something else.
- Short. Eight words is the upper limit for this one.
Next to every title there is a Copy button. Under each title a small line tell you what that version is putting up front, which saves you time when you compare. After the five titles comes a list of six keywords or short phrases, the kind of words somebody may type when searching. At least four of these six avoid the words already used in the first title. You may see a wider term, or the name of your theory. Many journals want keywords that don’t repeat the title words, and this list is useful at that time.
Our instruction to the model is to stay inside your text. Claims that you never made should not come in the titles. Hype words such as “novel” are also blocked. Our server also checks the reply’s format, and only then you will see it. Paste a recipe or a cricket report and the server will just say no, since it is not research writing. Per paste the box takes 1,800 characters maximum.
Your pasted text is never saved on our side, only the answer stays for some time. It is locked with a key built from your own text, and it gets deleted after the next day. Each visitor has few free checks every day, and you can see your balance in the line just under the button. For the full picture please see the privacy policy. Questions scholars ask
Which kind of title suits a PhD thesis?
Most PhD titles in India are of the descriptive type. They tell the reader the topic, the people studied and the place. Usually the setting comes into the title, for example a district name or a state name. Titles built on a question or on a result are more common for journal papers. Talk to your guide about which type to use. Also open Shodhganga and see what titles your department has accepted in recent years.
How long should my title be?
No national rule fixes the length of a title. We find that 20 words or below reads comfortably on the registration form and on the cover page too. Suppose your title cannot be understood without a colon and a long subtitle, mostly you are packing too many ideas into it. Some universities do keep a word limit on the registration form, so just check your own university’s rules once.
Can I change the title after registration?
In most places you can, but you need approval for it. Mostly it is the Doctoral Committee or the Research Advisory Committee who approves the change, and it goes into the minutes of that meeting. After that, your thesis should show the approved title word for word. For this reason we always tell scholars to settle the title carefully at the registration stage itself.
Is what I paste stored?
No, we don’t keep any copy of your pasted text. OpenAI does receive it so that the five titles can be written, and OpenAI’s own terms cover that part. Your five titles stay with us in encrypted form only till the next day ends. Then they are removed.
Why did I get a message instead of titles?
In most cases the text was very short, or it was not research writing at all. Give two or three sentences at least. Mention your topic, where the study is happening and what method you are using. Sometimes the model also doesn’t answer properly, and then you can just try one more time. Your free check is not counted for a failed attempt.
